PROCESS WORK

Journal Entry: Sat Dec 13, 2008, 12:34 PM
I find it really interesting when I get to see how people work. Especially if I have NO IDEA how they got to the final. Don't get me wrong, it's nice to see the final work but I feel the process is much more important. To understand the hard work that was put into the piece to arrive to the final. I'm always mesmerized when I get to see it. I'm starting to document all my works from beginning to end. Usually I become too anxious and forget about snapping a few shots. I'm sure a lot of you do the same. So start documenting!

Anyways, If you are interested or just plain bored. Here's my process:

LAST THING: WINTER BREAK!!!!!!! you'll be seeing more pieces from me! I get a month off. I don't know why, usually it's only three weeks long but for some freakish reason SHERIDAN decided that we need a month off.... I'm not complaining... it's more time for me to go ape shit.

Yayyyy! It's so awesome to see your process-- I totally agree and would love it if more people posted the way they got to the final product.. I feel like the real beauty in art is the actual creation process rather than the finished piece X3

I loooove Rives BFK-- I'm working on a piece in oils right now on it, but you're right about the smudging. I've found that if you're just going to use pencils, it's a lot better to work in blue pencil (erasable) or HB or below and build up the lines. I like to put acrylic medium over my linework and then paint on top of that, it seals whatever I've done before the painting stage and makes sure the paper doesn't buckle when I apply a lot of layers X3 I'm pretty sure this is how James Jean works as well :)

I can't wait to see your winter break arts ;)

Just started painting a picture the first in three or four years, you kinda inspired me to do it.
So yeah, enjoy your break.

Ape poo. Disgusting.
I wonder what JJ taught you. Because you went away all excited, painting one way, then you came back and uploaded a piece the completely rocked your entire gallery. And now all of your new pieces are on that level or higher.
The only way I can describe it is, you artistically snapped. Didn't the proffs load you up with lots of work for the break? My friend told me that's what they were doing, but then again, I don't know how fast you work.

Ya I definitely think I artistically snapped but it's not like it came to me overnight. It was more so that I decided that I wasn't going to slack off any more and to work and to do my best on all the pieces I created. Before I would pump out a piece from 12am-8am or something like that. Now I spend almost a week on each. Drawing wise i don't think i've improved but I've learned a lot about patience working with james.

I need to draw more over this break.

ya the proffs didn't give us work but i could start on some pieces for next semester..we'll see.

wow. thank you that means a lot. It's the whole reason why i paint and draw. It's for that... to inspire others to enjoy art and to get off their lazy asses and to paint something. Doesn't matter if your good or bad, there is an enjoyment to when you apply paint onto a board.

keep it up! and i can't wait to see your painting. Link me to the page when you are done :)
